Timbuktu mali straddles africa's north-south divide between the sahara and the savannah desertification is a most important concern in timbuktu as immense dunes cover the city that is commonly buried in windswept sand temperature is soaring in this town it reaches about 42 degrees celsius the max temperature ever recorded is 49 degrees celsius it's even hot in winter reaching average highs of 30 degrees in january it would be much hotter if the niger river weren't about 15 miles away.

Ethiopia is a hot township located in the afar depression of ethiopia in 1960 it was one of the mining settlements moreover afar depression is a volcanically active area that is not far from a volcano holding the same name this hydrothermal field with salt formations acidic hot springs and gas geysers had an average yearly temperature of 41 degrees celsius maximum temperature was recorded between 1960 and 1966 at about 49 degrees celsius these soaring numbers mean it has the highest average temperature of any inhabited place on eart.

El azazia the former capital of the jafara district 25 miles south of tripoli used to claim the title of hottest place on earth in 1922 the temperature was recorded as a sweltering 58 degrees however it was stripped of its title in 2012 when meteorologists declared this invalid due to a number of factors including the fact that the person who recorded it was inexperienced however the town still regularly experiences temperatures over 51 degrees celsius in mid-summer.

Gadamas libya it is a desert oasis situated in the naloot district of the tropolitania area at the northwest of libya this oasis in the middle of the desert is now a unesco world heritage site thanks to its iconic huts made from mud which help protect the 7 000 inhabitants from the intense heat known as the pearl of the desert it reaches average highs of 40 degrees and a temperature of 55 degrees was once recorded.

Rube Al-khali Arabian Peninsula it is the main sand desert in the world rube alkali covers an area of about a third of the arabian peninsula it is not only hot but dry as well it reaches 51 degrees celsius in july and august the maximum temperature ever recorded was 55.5 degrees Celsius humans are not recommended to settle here so if you visit this place do not forget to bring your shoes with you because the expanse of the sand are absolutely hot.

Death Valley United States Death Valley is located in the Mojave Desert of California it is the hottest area in North America and it currently holds the record for hottest air temperature ever recorded the desert valley reached highs of 56.7 degrees Celsius in the summer of 1913. unique geographical climate may have something to do with its extreme temperatures as it is 57 meters below sea level and temperatures get hotter the lower you get there is debate over the validity of this temperature but even if it proved false it still comes up on top as a temperature of 54.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in 2020 average temperature highs today reach 47 degrees during summer and it's the driest place in the United States apparently it would push the limits of human survival but it is a picturesque place that you must visit.
